Norton’s Story

Norton

Norton came to Swindon from Abingdon following a relationship breakdown, and was sleeping rough. He clearly had some learning and behavioural difficulties, and was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder.

We arranged medication and a supply of repeat prescriptions that could relieve his mental condition, and arranged benefits and accommodation for him.
It emerged that Norton was naive, kind and unusually generous, giving most of his money away to people in need. This of course meant he was taken advantage of, and he was wary of sharing accommodation with others.
He had secured a large down payment on a wedding reception for his cancelled wedding, and we helped him get a refund. With this we arranged for him to repay the debts he had built up.
We encouraged Norton to make contact with his family, and he has been able to return to their care in Abingdon until he can get back on his feet again.
