George's Story

George

Outreach saw 47-year old George on an almost daily basis whilst tailoring a plan to help him find accommodation after 4 years living rough. George preferred to stay out of town as he felt safer, and would pitch his tent 4 miles out of Swindon.

In his travels George had tried hostels, but his drink problems proved to fall foul of their strict rules regarding alcohol, and was frequently evicted.

Working in conjunction with his GP to tackle his many health problems, which included chronic chest infections and trench foot, Threshold moved George into one of our ‘home for life’ projects.

This house is a real home, and George has happily settled and bonded with some of the other housemates. George comments, “I have got back my self-respect, I now have somewhere safe and quiet I can call home. I had come to accept that this could never be possible for someone like me. It means everything.”
